Bicycle Playing Cards
are some of the most well-known cards in the world, in my humble opinion. I played them as a kid and I play them with my kids. Sometimes we can’t find the Bicycle Playing Cards because I lent them to someone, but that’s all right, because some sort of deck is sure to be found somewhere in the house. Anyway, these cards do have a history. They actually came into existence in 1885. What I find amazing is that they were actually used during World War II. By placing the cards in water, they could be peeled apart making a portion of a much larger map. When the POWs were finished, they would put them together like a puzzle and make their escape.
