Has there ever been a show for kids that has had so much longevity and has generated so many toys based on the show? Power Rangers Legends is just one of many variations we’ve seen entertaining children these days. I recall hearing about Power Rangers hitting the airwaves and what a hit it was with kids. Martial arts teachers also got affected by it positively since the show had so many moves that made kids look cool and protect themselves. Shows like Power Rangers Legends can be a bit on the campy side at times especially from a parent’s perspective, but most classic shows are (thinking Star Trek). With so many toys to choose from, there’s sure to find something for that young person’s Christmas list this year.
Of all the Transformers toys you find today, I personally think that the Transforers Optimus Prime toy is the most popular. First, he’s the leader of the group of autobots that fight the evil Decepticons. Second, he just looks cool!
Everyone loves a good leader and I’m all for kids looking up to some symbol — even if it is a toy — that knows the difference between right and wrong. True, there are other characters in cartoon shows that have similar characteristics, but some of them lack other much needed qualities.
Currently, Amazon has a Transformers Optimus Prime toy for $72.99. It’s the movie version which was released earlier this year.
I was browsing Amazon today and found some really cool looking Halo 3 toys. The detail on these things is simply amazing. Gone are the days of when I was growing up with toys whose faces were painted just a bit off target.
The Halo 3: Master Chief Kubricks 4-Pack is made up of four action figures that look similar to Lego-styled figures. Then there’s the Halo 2 Series 3 Figure: Ghost with Brute which is a flying vehicle for complete with twin plasma cannons.
I don’t condone violence, especially violent video games. But if your young boy is nagging you for the video game, perhaps a compromise can be made by giving him one or two of the Halo 3 toys for Christmas this year.
I love the Super Friends growing up. As campy as that series was, I know that all the boys I went to school with loved that show because we always talked about it when we got back to school Monday morning. I think the Justice League action figures are a great way to introduce children of today to these great characters. In fact, I’ve seen the series on Cartoon Network and the inner child in me becomes enthralled in the storylines. I can almost envision kids watching the show while holding and playing with their Justice League action figures while acting out what they see on the TV show. When in the toy aisle I’ve seen these action figures range from hand size to about 12 inches. These would make Christmas gifts.
Lord of the Rings action figures were a much anticipated item for collectors and lovers of the series when the movies came out. I didn’t read the stories until I was an adult, and I have to say that it is a really good series. Well-written, imaginative, and captivating. And when I saw the movies I was simply amazed at how the characters were brought to life. Children can do that too with Lord of the Rings action figures. I recall reading about the same director of the last trilogy may in fact be doing The Hobbit at some point. That got a lot of attention in the toy market as well as lovers of the stories.
