Mattel handheld games from years gone by have a certain charm to them. And then you’ll find some that make you ask, “What were they thinking?” Case in point is the J.R. Ewing handheld game. Actually, it’s a board game with a handheld device with an illustration of J.R. Ewing on it from the popular TV series of teh 1970s, Dallas. Other Mattel handheld games include: soccer, bowling, Battlestar Galactica, Dungeons & Dragons and lots more. Back then they were cutting edge. You look at them now and you see antiques, which is fine if you’re into antiques. I just find it interesting how far we’ve come not only with games, but with technology and how it has been integrated with games.

For one to two players, the object of the game is to flick bright colored discs under the arch before time runs out. The product announces which color disc you need to send through the goal. If you pick the right one in the right timeframe, then you score. But if you pick the wrong color, it knows and will tell you too. You don’t want that to happen to anyone but your opponent.
